Oregon Episcopal School invites ambitious fencers to take their training and academics to the next level through the Scholar’s Edge Program.

Located on the OES campus, the Oregon Fencing Alliance gives students direct access to one of the top training environments in the country. This unique, embedded partnership allows students to move easily between school and practice, building a daily routine that supports both high-level competition and academic focus.

For fencers who are serious about their sport, this is a place where you don’t have to choose between athletics and academics. Students train with coaches who have developed Olympians and world-class competitors, while also being part of a school community that values character, connection, and growth.

About OES

OES educates students to become informed, compassionate, and engaged citizens of the world. As the academic curriculum evolves through the grade levels, this core value of developing well-rounded young minds remains our guiding principle.

Academic Excellence Through Hands-On Learning

Classes at OES are built around doing, not just listening. You’ll see students running experiments, leading discussions, working through ideas together, and asking questions that don’t always have easy answers. Teachers know their students well and push them to think deeper, take risks, and stay engaged. It’s not about memorizing content, it’s about learning how to think.

Experiential Education: Learning Beyond the Classroom

Learning doesn’t stop when students leave the building. Our home in Portland, Oregon, means that forests, rivers, and mountains are all within reach. Through experiential education, students spend time outdoors, exploring, studying, and connecting with the environment around them. Whether it’s a local trip or a week-long Winterim study, these experiences shape learning at OES. They build confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of connection to the world.

Home Sweet Home

Boarding is a central part of the OES experience. Within the beautiful landscape of the Pacific Northwest, students from around the world gather to live and learn in a vibrant, close-knit environment. With exceptional care and support, OES boarding offers unparalleled opportunities for leadership and exploration.

College Preparation and Success

By the time students graduate, they’re ready for what comes next. Not just academically, but personally. OES offers thoughtful, individualized college counseling, and students go on to attend a wide range of strong colleges and universities. More importantly, they arrive there prepared to take ownership of their experience and make the most of it.

Universities attended by OES fencers include: Columbia University, MIT, Northwestern University, NYU, Penn State, Princeton University, Stanford University, University of North Carolina, University of Notre Dame, University of Pennsylvania, US Air Force Academy, Wellesley College.
